Canine Influenza Vaccine

Dear Friends,

Given the uptick in canine respiratory illnesses that have been resistant to antibiotics in the latter half of 2023, beginning January 1st of 2024 we are going to ask that all dogs attending daycare and/or boarding with us receive the Canine Influenza vaccine.  I have been in touch with the local Veterinarian with whom I consult, and he has confirmed that his practice, which has a location in both Salem and Marblehead, is adequately stocked with this vaccine and a vet tech can administer it; therefore, clients should be able to make appointments without much lead time, downtime or inconvenience.

As a side note, we are also upgrading and increasing the number of air purifying systems that we utilize within the daycare in order to help minimize the spread of airborne illnesses.   The newest machine we purchased is a replica of the one used at the previously aforementioned vet’s office.

You can help keep our pack healthy by remaining diligent about changes in your dog’s health or behavior and by keeping them out of daycare if they are showing signs of illness.  A six-month booster for the Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine, while not required, is also recommended.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we update our policies in order to keep our pack healthy.

Warm regards,
